The 2012, 2014, 2016 Elections -- What About the Moms?

During the 2012 election cycle, the online gathering place for mothers, CafeMom, attended the national conventions of both the Republican and Democratic parties. During convention week, in conjunction with CNN Headline News, they put together a panel of moms to discuss if their issues were being addressed.

As a participant in the Democratic mom panel, I understood that I represented not just suburban moms, but also African-American voters. As we move toward the 2014 mid-terms and the 2016 national elections, both groups will be pivotal in determining winners.

Questions remain as to if the issues of moms are being addressed by either party. In addition, as the panel discussion shows, the concerns of moms are pretty much the same on both sides of the aisle. And why wouldn't they be? We all want the best for our families. The differences are with the solutions. For me, as I state many times in the interview, it's a matter of moving forward instead of moving back.

Make no mistake, the moms here are (or at least were at the time) Obama supporters -- after all this was the Democratic convention. I still support the administration; however, my concerns on the country moving backwards, even though Romney was not elected, remain.
